Here in Moray we are very lucky to have some areas of truly darks sky and a wonderful flat horizon over the Moray Firth which is ideal for viewing the wonder that is the northern lights.
Viewing the aurora is easy, no equipment is needed just you eyes. Predicting the northern lights is a very different matter though and is not easy at all.
There’s many website available to help you forecast a show, usually 24 or 48 hours is the limit to making a fairly accurate prediction. But even then the space weather condition or the Earth weather condition can not be favourable.
