What is a detatched prominence?
A solar prominence is a large, bright and often looping feature extending from the Sun seen against the blackness of space.

A detached prominence occurs when the magnetic field supporting a solar prominence can no longer hold it, causing it to break away and erupt into the Sun’s outer atmosphere, the corona.
